Save Reality, Go Virtual Charity Event this Friday

Graphics By Ilga Beck

Announcing the next in my series of monthly charity fund raising events at Club Neverdie, this Friday, November 3, 20 MA to 22 MA, Domes 1 through 5 (the regular Freaky Friday event steps aside this week but will return next Friday). All proceeds from ticket sales as well as the value of sponsor, promoter and individual donations from this event will benefit the charity called Care, specifically the World Hunger Campaign.

Once again a new VU and related issues made me consider postponing this one, but in the last three months now through these events we have raised $1596 for the chosen charities, and sparked significant interest from the last charity for the whole concept of a virtual game community pulling this off (the last event is going to be featured on that charities website and newsletter, details will be posted when confirmed ). I feel it important we keep up this momentum, so I would like to ask you all to please try to attend (or just buy a ticket or make a donation if you can't attend) and to spread the word, full steam ahead!

About the charity:

CARE is one of the world's largest private international humanitarian organizations, committed to helping families in poor communities improve their lives and achieve lasting victories over poverty. Founded in 1945 to provide relief to survivors of World War II, CARE quickly became a trusted vehicle for the compassion and generosity of millions.

About the World Hunger Campaign:

Every minute of every day, somewhere in the world, 21 children die of malnutrition and preventable diseases. Even when it doesn't kill, chronic malnutrition can cause blindness, deformities and brain damage. That's the shocking truth. But we don't have to accept it. We can choose to stop it.
"I've traveled all over the world, and I've looked into the eyes of many people," says CARE president Peter Bell. "I've seen their hope. I've heard them describe their dreams for the future. And I've heard their cries for you and me to stand with them in their struggle against hunger and poverty."

For further information please see the website:

World Hunger Campaign

Now to the event:

All of the charity events will be in domes 1-5 on CND, so that all levels of players can participate. The date is Friday, November 3, from 20:00 MA time until 22:00 MA time.

The Rules

Highest hunting total loot wins, and mining globals can be used to win prizes as well (see details below). There is no PvP in the charity events. The most important rule is to have fun, win loot and prizes, and make a difference in the real world, all at the same time.

Additional side competition for any miners in the event: The event system won't notice any mining globals, but I can So any miners in the event, take screenies of your mining globals, with all the usual info (the global, time and coords) included in your chat window, post them on this thread within 24 hours, and I will use a random number system to select one mining winner. Those mining are still eligible for the hunting prizes too.

The Prizes

First Place wins a private hunting trip with Warants Skalman, 300 ped for ammo, an A-3 Justifier MK II and Omegaton A104 amp.

Second Place wins 100 ped plus a Willard Heatray B (L) handgun (which I am told is an excellent skilling gun )

Third Place wins 50 ped and a Force Mace Assail (L) melee club

Random Prize: 50 ped shopping trip in Freyr's shops on CND

Side Competiton for Miners: 1 winners will be chosen, for 100 ped and an EnMatAmp MA-103 (L)

The Mobs

Dome One: Ambulimax young along with some mature and the rare old
Dome Two: Snablesnot Male and Female (Stalkers, Prowler, Old Alpha) with the odd Young, as well as some Young Fungoids
Dome Three: Berycled, Daikiba and Snablesnot-male (young-Mature)
Dome Four: Atrox young with some Mature mixed in and the odd Old
Dome Five: Large Snablesnot-female, with some young and mature Exarosaur and Snablesnot-male
For more info on the domes please see the excellent CND dome map at http://www.realityport.com/guides/CNDMAP/

Tickets

Tickets are available in the event terminal for this set of domes for 20 ped, and a very limited number from myself or others, but still at full price because the idea is to raise as much as possible for the charity, so discount tickets are not offered for these events.

To purchase and register tickets (register as early as you can but ideally no later than 15 minutes before event starts to be able to enter the event) from the terminal, go to the fertilizer room just West of the Control Room. You will find the terminal for Domes 1-5 on your right. Click on the blue landowner's marker screen, when the window pops up, click on the running man in the upper right corner of the box to open the event schedule window. Click (or double click) on the title of the event (on the left) to open up yet another window. Click on "register" and drag your ped card to the window to purchase a ticket, or your already purchased ticket to register. Clicking on confirm will indicate that you are indeed registered.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me here and I will do my best to answer. Please spread the word and hope to see the domes full of fun people on Friday. Individual and group donations (ped or sellable items) outside of the event are also very welcome and usually form a large part of the overall amount raised, just pass to me, or pm me here if I am not on your fl but you want to help out.

Special thanks to our sponsors: ND, Skalman, Freyr (CND shops 10 & 11), and Jamhot Weapons & Armour Co. (New Oxford,Bilton Towers,Tower 1, Condo 3-G).

Once again the bedraggled and tired Lee who didn't sleep all night finally updates the thread the next afternoon

I was very happy to see 20 people manage to get registered for the event, despite the lateness of my decision to go ahead with this one, that is to me a healthy number of participants. Initial figures (to be updated throughout the week before the final donation is counted up and made) from ticket sales and donations stands at $300 (US dollars). As usual I do expect that to grow over the next few days as I get pledges from others (harassment of fl continues, you have been warned )

The event was a good one, and it seems fun for everyone, with lots of joking and some really good music from ND. The miners were the star of the show last night, with global after global, including Kel's hof which I note he kindly posted here for our little mining competition. I do hope some of the others get posted as well in the 24 hour time frame to be considered for the prize, and I have added 100ped to that prize thanks to a sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous. Our event winner also had a streak of mining globals that provided us all with some entertainment, so of course those count towards another win should the screenies get posted

Our winners so far (forgive me if I wrote any spellings down wrong):

First Place: Perrin Metalsmith Aybara
Second Place: Sky Liquidsky SkyWalker
Third Place: Kelly Kel David

Random Prize: KatiIce KIIceKati (claim your 50 ped shopping trip from Freyr, pm me here if you need help in contacting him)

I will check back here later tonight to see if we have any more mining screenies, and will post the winner of that competition then.

Once again I have been made proud of the players of entropia, and over the next month will be working hard on the next charity event which I hope will be a big one for all of us in more ways than one.

Also, in place of my previous Friday night hunt events on CND, a new series of events is already in the pipeline for CND and planet that will in large part be a non profit fun and rewarding activity for others in the game, starting with the newcomers (aka noobes), and later for socs. Keep your eyes out for announcements on that (mysterious hint ---> )

Special thanks and hugs (to be updated) to our event sponsors, helpers and all around good folks: NeverDie, Skalman, Freyr, Ripper & Creature (RipTure Travel), Kahr, Haxtor Mooogle Towni, Chaz, Sniper, Dom Sufc, Nisse and Mr. Anonymous.

Meant to do this earlier, but we have an easy win here on the mining prize for Kel (http://www.entropiaforum.com/forums/...4&postcount=14), since no one else bothered to post a screenie

Gratz Kel, see you ingame to pass on the prizes.

Donation Update

The donation has now been made to Care, specifically the World Hunger Campaign (part of the Children & Poverty Campaign), on behalf of the Players of Entropia Universe, in the amount of $480 (US dollars). Once again we have raised a commendable amount for charity from just one event, and once again I say well done and thank you all so much for participating/donating

This brings our grand total raised through these events to $2076. We are making this work folks, and we are making a difference

Copied below is the standard email receipt, with my personal details removed (the xxxs), and once the hard copy letter is received I will of course scan and post that as they usually offer a bit more specific detail about the campaign the money went to, etc. Reminder, I do not take tax donations on these, since they are made as part of a group effort rather than solely by my contribution.
