Save Reality, Go Virtual Charity Event this Friday
Graphics By Ilga Beck
Apologies for not getting this thread up sooner, but rl events have slowed me down a bit this week.
Announcing the next in a series of monthly charity fund raising events at Club Neverdie, this Friday, September 1. All proceeds from ticket sales as well as some sponsor, promoter and individual donations from this event will benefit the charity called A.A.M. (Adopt A Minefield), specifically the Afghanistan Action Program. I dedicate this event to in game avatars La and Kahr, who support this charity.
Last month we raised a donation of $550 to the charity Witness, so let's see if we can do it again or even better it!
About the charity:
Decades of conflict in Afghanistan have left its landscape littered with landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). The end of conflict has increased the movement of people as refugees return to their homes. However, large areas of fertile land cannot be farmed and residential areas cannot be resettled. People in Afghanistan live in fear of landmines.
Adopt-A-Minefield has supported mine clearance in Afghanistan since 1999 and survivor assistance since 2002. After the post-September 11, 2001 coalition bombing, AAM developed the “Adopt-A-Team” program. With cluster bombs scattered throughout the country and the increased movement of people, mine clearance priorities are now in constant flux. Adopt-A-Team enables deminers to respond to emergencies, giving them the flexibility they need.
For further information please see the website:
http://www.landmines.org/programs/afghanistan/
Now to the event:
All of the charity events will be simple hunt events in domes 1-5 on CND, so that all levels of players can participate. The date is Friday, September 1, from 20:00 MA time until 22:00 MA time.
The rules are simple, highest total loot wins, and all levels of players and weapons are welcome. The most important rule is to have fun, win loot and prizes, and make a difference in the real world, all at the same time.
Prizes:
Our sponsors have been very generous this month, so each prize category will be chock a block full of goodies, and I have saved some aside for the next event as well! Since none of the items are particularly rare, I sorted them based on the current tt value rather than market value. All prizes other than that in the winner's loot window should be collected from me in the control room after the event (or the sponsor for the additional prizes - see below).
1st place prize: a hunt with Stryker of Warants, plus 500 ped to be split for the ammo from Neverdie ( 250 ped will pop up in the winner's loot window). The hunt will be planned and agreed between Stryker and the winner. In addition, a few extra prizes from sponsors will include: Omegaton Fap-18, Omegaton M2725 Mentor Edition handgun, Omegaton A-103 amp, plus a small storage container to hold the goodies.
2nd place prize: 50 ped plus a load of goodies to decorate your apartment: 2 plain chairs, 2 black marble pedestals, 1 cosy candle, 1 stink tree painting, 1 small black Kanto vase, and a small storage container to hold the goodies.
3rd place prize: 30 ped plus a package from Entropia Green Tours (includes an event ticket, flight up to CND, storage while there and a tour)
Plus One Additional Prize: This one is a bit different, but by special request Freyr would like to offer a 50 ped credit to be used in his shop by someone not finishing in the top 3 and randomly chosen. I have looked at a few different options to honour this request, and settled on a simple random number method. I will assign each registrant (other than the top three) a number based on the order of registration, and I will get two people to chose a random number, one from the tens column and one from the units column, which will together make up the number of the winner ( from 01 to the number of eligible registrants). Hope that makes sense
After the event is of course the infamous CND afterparty. From now on the charity events after parties will be in the main disco and VIP area. Make sure you have enabled the music stream in your options, or tune in to CND Live Radio on the web. There will be some additional small prizes for the dancers at the party as well.
A very limited number of discount tickets are available for the charity events (price of 16 ped), and can be bought from Urso or other members of his soc the Entropia Green Tours. Even as early as this first writing those tickets are almost gone, so grab them fast. Because the event is for charity, the goal is to have the majority of tickets purchased at full price (20ped) directly from the dome 1-5 land marker terminal on CND. This allows a greater amount of ped from ticket sales to go to the charity.
To purchase and register tickets (register as early as you can but no later than 15 minutes before event starts to be able to enter the event) from the terminal, go to the fertilizer room just West of the Control Room. You will find the terminal for Domes 1-5 on your right. Click on the blue landowner's marker screen, when the window pops up, click on the running man in the upper right corner of the box to open the event schedule window. Click (or double click) on the title of the event (on the left) to open up yet another window. Click on "register" and drag your ped card to the window to purchase a ticket, or your ticket to register. Clicking on confirm will indicate that you are indeed registered.
There are also discount flights for holders of tickets to my events (or those going up to buy them, speak to the pilots about this) from Psycho Al, Creature, FoxyPilot, Deth Gray Killer, Moonfish, Ambuli, Pole, and Airedale.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me here and I will do my best to answer. Please spread the word and hope to see the domes full of fun people on Friday.
Special thanks to our sponsors and helpers, ND, Etopia, Freyr, Urso and Entropia Green Tours and of course Stryker for agreeing to be our main prize
To all who help out in even the smallest way, you are very appreciated and special for seeing the potential of the Save Reality, Go Virtual idea.

This is great, and much success with it ... just one request my dear ... would you be kind enough to change the dark blue color to something else so that it's easier to read. Thx a bunch!

Sure, I always struggle with the background on this forum, and settled on the dark blue as easier to read than most of the others I tried, but took a tip from your post and used the pink

With my relocation just about complete, it looks like I will be able to slice, dice, and make julienne mob fries, in this event.

Then I too shall bring my "Magic Bullet" into the mix and serve up some frothy concoction or two.

Prizes Now Updated
A big BUMP to let you all know I have now updated the list of prizes, so please check the original post again. I ended up with more prizes from sponsors than I knew what to do with, so have saved some aside for the next charity event (not complaining folks, keep it coming) . Thanks to all of you, you are terrific. I look forward to seeing you all there tomorrow night.

I'll make an effort to be in Twin a few hours ahead of the event, so if anyone needs help getting a Space Limo ride to the event, I can help track down a pilot for you.
Please just don't wait till the last minute .. you need to allow plenty of time for flight coordination and ticket registration before MA says "go" or else you'll miss the opportunity to participant.
Especially with large events such as this, it can be tricky when everyone wants to go up but nobody is coming back down and all the pilots get stuck at CND.
I should be around tonight, too, if you'd like to go up sooner than later and need help finding a pilot. If you need me and I'm not in twin, there is usually someone there who has me on FL.
